Official on September 1st, BenQ will change its name to Qisda, that stands for “quality innovation speed driving and achievements.” Well BenQ, in Romanian your name stays for something else entirely — being more specific, this is like changing your name into Qunt.

Kopinaki, this new name may be targeted towards single, male, nerdy customers. An enticing name like this may do wonders for brand awareness inside such a difficult demographic.
On the other hand, the new name opens great opportunities for internal branding and HR programs — just imagine how popular the “I work for Qisda” giveaway t-shirts may get to be.
Finally a fertile and truly exciting name in this unsexy category. Sony, Samsung, Nokia, move over!
