Software Dear Adobe

"For the next version, please could you stop adding features." "Why does Photoshop cost as much as a pre-owned small car?" Exactly! Join the whiners.

Eugen:

it's just the market, they keep the price up there 'because they can'. Btw, look on the bright side, this creates the perfect window of opportunity for a potential competitor. With decent marketing, comparable performance and half the price, a photoshop killer would have it quite easy. (i bet that if adobe lowered their prices then, the whiners would complain about bad competitive practices)

it costs as much as a small car because, if you play your cards right, you get that money back soon - and then make some more. Unlike a small car, whose only certainty is deprecation. (unless you're into delivery)

also, about acrobat load times: i agree. But nobody forces anyone to use the adobe reader. Afaik, the pdf format is open to developers, so anyone can take on killing adobe reader with a better product. Again, it's another window of opportunity, till Adobe figures it out that 'hey, if we solve everything on the whiners' list, we become GOD'.
