While bloggers might get away with it, a like/dislike approach is exactly what I find inappropriate in high-profile cases like this when it comes from the press or industry experts. I'd call it business tabloidization. Let's wait and see how it works, how they're going to use it.

We only know what they want us to in this process, and some of the real issues they're addressing with this will remain locked in their research and board-room presentations.

Re techies reaction—imagine Google unveiling its current identity today. Childish, analog, lo-tech, not representative for the company's dimension, strength or technological cutting edge etc. Can you picture the reactions, especially with the bloggers and the techies?
