Bucharest You're not welcome on Lipscani, fuck off

Bucharest's historic district of Lipscani with its swarm of restaurants, cafés, pubs and bistros welcomes non-smokers and people who have a condition aggravated by smoke with a strong, rude, primitive message: scram, you're not welcome here. This is a smokers-only area so fuck off.

It's a bit more concise than that: a label on almost every door indicating that "This is a smoking establishment". No label? Same thing.

I could say it's a manifesto against the oppression of the non-smoking politically correct European laws. But I'd be just as poncey.

Truth is, if I had such an establishment I'd post the same note. Non-smokers are free to not smoke in a smoking pub, unlike smokers, who are not allowed to do the equivalent (i.e. to smoke) in a non-smoking place. And don't give me the old passive smoke thing as I don't expect laws against everything unhealthy or unpleasant to some to be very pleasant for all.

I have asthma and rarely smoke. But I do think I have the right to do it at my home, my office, in my pub or in my car. Do I need to go in a non-smoking restaurant? Fine, I can contain myself or smoke outside. It's not against common sense to set you own rules on your own place, provided you don't own all the places in the world.

I'd write more but I suddenly feel the need for a fag.

By the way: fix your posting script, it's dead slow sometimes.

Well, if one day you crave for a coffee but do not feel like inhaling, skip Lipscani entirely.
